How These Rankings Work

Win? Ratings go UP! Lose? Ratings go down. Of course, we couldn't make it that simple. Here's what impacts how much you move on the leaderboard:

🔢 Hand values matter.
Easy hands get you a smaller bump than high-point or concealed wins. Pull off a win without a joker?! Huge boost! 🀄

🀄 Discards hurt. A lot.
If you threw the tile that gave someone else mahjong, you take a double penalty on your loss. The other *~LoSeEeeRs~* at the table take a normal hit. When someone self-picks the winning tile, everyone loses equally.

🌶️ Upsets are spicy.
Beating a highly ranked player earns you extra rating points. If you lose to someone ranked significantly below you, that will sting more than usual — both on the leaderboard points-wise but emotionally too because how embarrassing.

🤚 Wall games are free.
No winner means no points and no penalties. The game will still count towards your games-played and percentage wins stats.
